What is Pass Plus Extra?
Pass Plus Extra is a Council led scheme aimed at young and
novice drivers. During the scheme you will complete an interactive
two hour workshop and six hours of practical sessions covering
areas you wouldn't normally encounter during the usual driving
test, for example motorway driving, and driving at night. The
purpose of Pass Plus Extra is to provide extra training that will
make you a safer driver.
Why is Pass Plus Extra aimed at young people and novice
drivers?
About a third of UK drivers killed or seriously injured on UK
roads are aged 17 to 24, despite accounting for just 13% of licence
holders. And it's not just themselves they injure or kill. In 2005,
nearly 2,000 passengers aged 17 to 24 were killed or seriously
injured (Midland Safety Camera Partnerships, 2006).
One in five new drivers are involved in a crash in their first
year of driving (Driving Standards Agency, 2000).
It costs less with your Council!
We are offering a discount on the cost of a Pass Plus course.
The course normally costs between £120 and £180. With the subsidy
provided by us, you pay only £60. As a reward for taking
this course, many insurance companies will give you a discount off
your premium.
Regular workshops are held locally and practical sessions can be
taken with registered instructors. Any driving instructor may apply
to register.
